Purpose: To establish a golf event that showcases the golf talent at both Grapevine and Bridlewood golf courses and results in a growth of friendships between the two memberships. The prize is the cup and any new friendship or friendly rival you may acquire.

 

Location/Date:           Bridlewood GC – Saturday, November 15, 2025 (Tee times starting at 8:00am)

                                    Grapevine GC – Sunday, November 16, 2025 (Tee times starting at 10:00am) 

Ø  The location sequence rotates each year.

Cost: Each player is responsible for paying their own green fees at each golf course. The price for green fees, cart, and range balls at Bridlewood is $79.00 plus tax.  The price for green fees varies at Grapevine depending on if you are a Grapevine resident or not. The price includes tax and range balls.

Lakeside Cup Format:  24 players per team - 4 Flights of 6 golfers each

 

Ø  A & B Flight players will tee off from the Blue tees at Grapevine and Green tees at Bridlewood.

Ø  C & D Flight players will tee off from the White tees at Grapevine and White tees at Bridlewood.

Ø  In case of an emergency where a player cannot show for the event, Grapevine & Bridlewood will have players on standby.

o   Each team will do their best to replace a player with another player in the same Flight range (i.e. A Flight player replaces A Flight player; B Flight player replaces B Flight player, etc.).

o   It must be stressed to each 24 man team roster that this is a commitment as last minute cancellations will create issues for both teams.

Golf Format:  

Ø  Day 1 - Team Matches - 2 Man Best Ball Nassau at Bridlewood GC

o   Front 9 - Front 9 – 9-hole Team Match play - 1 Point or ½ point for a tie

o   Back 9 - 9-hole Team Match play - 1 Point or ½ point for a tie

o   Team Match Play overall 18 holes – 1 Point for most points after 18 holes, or ½ point for a tie

o   36 Total Points available Day 1

o   Handicaps - 90% of GHIN handicap will be used for each player. The lowest handicap of each match will be set to zero, with the higher handicaps adjusted accordingly by the difference.

Ø  Day 2 - Singles Matches at Grapevine  GC

o   Front 9 - 9-hole Singles-Match Play - 1 Point or ½ for a tie

o   Switch Opponents for Back 9

o   Back 9 – 9-hole Singles-Match Play 1 Point or ½ for a tie

o   48 Total Points available for Day 2  

Ø  84 Total Points available for Day 1 and Day 2  

Ø  Tiebreaker: The first tiebreaker is the second day total team points won.  The next tiebreaker will be the second day total team points won by Flight starting with the A Flight, then the B Flight, C Flight, and D Flight.  If still tied, we will flip a coin to determine the winner.

Captain/Committee:  

Ø  Grapevine & Bridlewood Captains will meet to ensure pairings are made fairly and with the intent of ensuring a gentleman’s event is put on.  

Ø  Bridlewood is currently in possession of the Lakeside Cup trophy  

Ø  Players will be selected from the current GGA Roster.  The pointing process is based on Net finish placement for each GGA tournament within the player’s flight.  1 for 1^st, 2 for 2^nd, etc.  The time period will cover tournaments played from November through the player selection date (GGA Championship).  6 players from each flight will be selected.  4 players auto picked based on points (with a minimum of 5 GGA Tournaments played) and 2 based on the captain’s picks.  Alternates will also be identified.
