"Ready Golf" Suggestions

  • Be on the tee box and ready to hit as soon as it is safe. Arm yourself with extra balls, tees and ball markers.
  • In the fairway, hit when it is safe to do so - whether it is your turn or not. Limit practice swings. Please do not intentionally hit into the group ahead but don't plan on always hitting a career shot either. The other members of your group will be happy to yell fore if you really get into one.
  • Make your club selection while other players are playing their shot.
  • Be prepared. Take more than one club to your ball, particularly when it is cart paths only.
  • Be aware of your group's position in relationship to the group ahead - not behind.
  • Be aware of the time it takes your group to play while on the course. Approximately 11-12 minutes per hole. Help each other within your group to become aware of the time taken for your group to play.
  • Help with driving carts forward for fellow players within your group, especially on days when it is cart paths only.
  • Pull your cart to the back of the green, no matter where the flag is located. You will be walking off the green and the group behind can hit sooner.
  • We are not playing TV golf and we are definitely not on the tour. Read your putt and be ready to execute your stroke when it is your turn.
  • Mark your scores at the next tee box. Do not hold up the group behind.
  • Please do not spend time looking for balls other than for someone in your group. Looking for balls in the long rough on the left and the gully on the right side of Mockingbird hole #3 is a waste of time. Drop a ball and take your medicine.
  • Don't forget the option to use the drop area in front of the red tees on number 9 of Mockingbird and in front of and to the right of the red tees on number 9 of Pecan if you hit your ball in the water.
  • The right side of number 2 on the Bluebonnet Course is an environmental area. Stay off the hill looking for your lost ball. Under no circumstance are you to enter this area. Entering the environmentally sensitive area will result in a 2 stroke penalty. If your ball is visible and can be reached with a club or ball retriever, without stepping into the environmental area, you may rake the ball out, take a one stroke penalty and proceed to play your next shot. Don't forget the option to use the drop area if you hit your ball into the environmental area.
  • The left and right sides of number 3 on the Bluebonnet Course are also very thick with rough. Please limit your search time to no more than 3 minutes.
  • On number 4 of the Bluebonnet Course, there is an environmentally sensitive lateral hazard in front of the tee box and down the right side of the hole. A player who hits his ball out of bounds or in the hazard must proceed to the drop area located in front of the red tees, take a drop and one stroke penalty, and proceed from there. Under no circumstance are you to enter the hazard. If your ball is visible and can be reached with a club or ball retriever, without stepping into the hazard, you may rake the ball out, take a one stroke penalty and proceed to play your next shot.
  • Limit time spent between nines. Call ahead if you must have food between nines so that it is ready when you get there.
  • Anything you can personally do, within our rules, to speed up the game will be greatly appreciated by all of our members.
